I fell in love with the idea of bringing my two backgrounds together in this Afro-Day of the Dead piece. One of two paintings completed in the fall of 2024, they were an example of those lovely times when ideas and paint flow easily. Working in the studio during the chilly fall, I would have my favorite, warm sweater and a cup of tea and some jazz in the background. There were a couple of late nights, when I worked in the quiet hours with just my overhead light, so as not to wake the household. Our kitties would twine themselves around my feet for attention and the muted strains of soft music flowed through my headphones. It's moments like these I live for. Creating is and always will be one of my great passions.
